We are pleased to continue empowering former GOTR WMA participants through our annual Girls on the Run Western MA Alumni Scholarship Award. This award provides an opportunity to recognize, support, and celebrate young women who have previously participated in Girls on the Run WMA and have demonstrated bringing the Girls on the Run core values to life.

GOTR Western MA was established in 2015. Since then, we have seen incredible growth and have empowered over 11,600 girls using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Now, many of the girls from our early years are young women, navigating adulthood with the tools and strategies learned through Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run WMA will award two $1,000 scholarships to two past program participants for use toward their post-secondary education.

Scholarships will be awarded based on a student's participation in a minimum of one season of Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole. Involvement in school and community activities, as well as three short essays, are required. There is an option for submitting a short video about something you have learned from GOTR. Through these scholarships, we hope the Girls on the Run experience will continue to positively impact our past participants for many years to come.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

All applicants must:

1. Have participated in a minimum of one season in Girls on the Run and/or Heart & Sole.
2. Be eligible for high school graduation during the 2024-2025 academic year.
3. Answer all the questions and short essays in this application
4. Applications and all supporting material must be submitted by April 25th, 2025 by 5:00pm for the June 2025 Award.

Recipients will be asked to provide evidence of college acceptance and/or proof of internship or apprenticeship that will further their career goals before scholarship funds are disbursed.
